How to switch from Unbounce to GetIntent
Moving from Unbounce to GetIntent is not a page migration, because GetIntent is not a page builder. You either keep your Unbounce pages and add GetIntent on top (if your page builder allows custom scripts), or you move the pages to your own site and personalize them there. Either way, the personalization setup is the same.
The Bottom Line
What carries over
- Your page design and content, if you keep the pages where they are and add the GetIntent script.
- Your UTM and campaign structure: GetIntent reads the same UTM parameters your ads already use.
- Your conversion goals, recreated in GetIntent with the click picker or JavaScript API.
What does not carry over
- Page hosting and the visual editor. GetIntent does not build or host pages.
- Smart Traffic variant routing. GetIntent personalizes one page per visitor instead of routing between variants you design.
- Unbounce templates and historical analytics. Export what you need before cancelling.
- Unbounce integrations and form handling. Reconnect forms to your own stack if you move pages.
Step-by-step migration
- 1
Step 1
Decide where the pages will live
Keep them in Unbounce if your page builder allows custom scripts, or rebuild them on your own website, CMS or framework.
- 2
Step 2
Create an account and add your site
Sign up on the free plan and add the domain the pages are served from. GetIntent creates a site with a unique Site ID.
- 3
Step 3
Install the script tag
Add the GetIntent script before the closing body tag. The installation guide covers WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Next.js and plain HTML.
- 4
Step 4
Choose the elements to personalize
Use Scan My Site or the Visual Selector Picker to pick the headlines, CTAs and text blocks that should adapt.
- 5
Step 5
Map your campaigns to rules
Create rules that match the UTM parameters of each campaign with a short instruction for the AI, so every ad group gets matching copy.
- 6
Step 6
Set your brand voice and track conversions
Add tone and keyword guidelines, then define conversion goals in Dashboard > Conversions.
- 7
Step 7
Measure against your original page
A holdout group sees your original page by default. On Pro plans and above you can also create experiments with several variants and a confidence level.
- 8
Step 8
Retire what you no longer need
If you moved pages to your own site, redirect the old Unbounce URLs and update ad destinations before cancelling.
