How to switch from VWO to GetIntent

Switching from VWO to GetIntent is not a like-for-like move. VWO is an experimentation suite with a visual editor, heatmaps and session recordings; GetIntent rewrites landing-page copy for each visitor from the campaign and search intent that brought them. Most of the work is deciding which VWO tests become GetIntent rules, then adding one script tag. There is no importer.

The Bottom Line

Recommended approach: Move your campaign-specific copy tests to GetIntent first and keep VWO for heatmaps, recordings and layout tests until you know whether you still need them.

What carries over

  • Your landing pages: GetIntent rewrites them in place, nothing is rebuilt.
  • Your UTM and campaign structure: GetIntent reads the same UTM parameters your ads already use.
  • Your conversion goals, recreated in GetIntent with the click picker or the JavaScript API.

What does not carry over

  • VWO tests, variations and their results. There is no importer; export the reports you need before your contract ends.
  • Heatmaps, session recordings and form analytics. GetIntent has no equivalent.
  • Layout, image and visual-editor changes. GetIntent rewrites text only.
  • Randomized tests against your unpersonalized page. GetIntent experiments compare personalization variants; a holdout on the original page is not built in yet.

Step-by-step migration

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Decide what moves

List your running and planned VWO tests. Tests that change headlines, subheadings or CTA copy per campaign or audience can move to GetIntent. Layout tests, heatmaps and recordings stay in VWO.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Create an account and add your site

Sign up on the free plan and add your domain. GetIntent creates a site with a unique Site ID.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Install the script tag

Add the GetIntent script before the closing body tag on the pages you want to personalize. It loads asynchronously. The VWO snippet can stay in place.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Choose the elements to personalize

Use Scan My Site or the Visual Selector Picker to pick headlines, CTAs and text blocks. Do not let VWO and GetIntent change the same element: pause the overlapping VWO test on the pages you move.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Turn copy tests into rules

For each copy test you move, create a rule that matches the campaign's UTM parameters and give the AI a short instruction based on the test's hypothesis, for example "lead with the integration".

  6. 6

    Step 6

Set your brand voice and track conversions

Add tone, preferred and restricted keywords, then define the same conversion goals you used in VWO in Dashboard > Conversions.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Measure the result

Track conversions per campaign. On Pro plans and above, experiments split visitors between variants with different AI instructions and report each variant's conversion rate with a confidence level (95% by default). A comparison with your original page is a before-and-after comparison, not a randomized test.

  8. 8

    Step 8

Retire what you no longer need

End the VWO tests you replaced. Keep the VWO snippet if you still use heatmaps, recordings or layout tests.

How long switching from VWO takes

We do not publish an average migration time yet: as of October 2026 we have not completed enough migrations to state one honestly. What decides your timeline is known, though, and the measurement part can be calculated from your own traffic.

Setup
Configuration work, with no importer: add the site, install one script tag, pick the elements and write one rule per VWO segment or campaign you want to keep. It scales with the number of segments you recreate, not with the number of pages.
Measurement
Usually the longest phase, and it depends on your traffic. Results are flagged as underpowered until each side has 100 visitors, and auto-optimization only declares a winner once every variant has at least 100 conversions (the default, adjustable per experiment). Experiments are available on Pro plans and above.
Worked example
An experiment with two variants split evenly on a page with 20 conversions a day collects about 10 conversions per variant per day and reaches 100 per variant after about 10 days. At 4 conversions a day it takes about 50 days.
Cutover
Removing the VWO snippet, and redirecting old URLs if you moved pages, is a single change on your site once you have decided.
Minimum calendar days until each of 2 evenly split experiment variants has 100 conversions, the default threshold before auto-optimization can declare a winner.
Conversions per day on the pageDays until each variant has 100
2about 100 days
5about 40 days
10about 20 days
20about 10 days
50about 4 days

Calculated from the product defaults, not measured on customer migrations. Experiments need the Pro plan or above, and the minimum is adjustable per experiment. Setup and cutover come on top and depend on how many segments or campaigns you recreate.

When to stay with VWO

Switching is not the right move for everyone. VWO is still the better choice when:

  • You use heatmaps, session recordings and form analytics as part of a CRO program.
  • You run complex multivariate tests across the full funnel, not only landing pages.
  • You have a dedicated CRO team that designs rules and experiments.
  • You want testing, behavior analytics and personalization in one contract.

Switching from VWO: common questions

Can GetIntent import my VWO tests?

No. There is no importer. You recreate copy tests as UTM-based rules with AI instructions; the AI writes the copy, so you do not write each variation by hand.

Can I keep VWO for heatmaps and session recordings?

Yes, as long as the two tools do not change the same elements on the same page.

Does GetIntent run A/B tests like VWO?

On Pro plans and above, GetIntent experiments compare personalization variants with weights, UTM targeting, a minimum sample size and a confidence level. It does not test layouts or images, and it does not yet hold back visitors on your unpersonalized page.

What does GetIntent cost?

There is a free plan with 5 sites and 25 AI personalizations a month. Paid plans start at €69/month.
